04 – 20 JULY 2024
In French Polynesia, the month of July is often synonymous with festivities. For nearly a month, a variety of cultural activities such as dance competitions, traditional songs, handicrafts, and local sports contests are organized in Tahiti and the surrounding islands.
Among these events, the Heiva stands out as the largest traditional festival of dance and song. Each island is represented and competes in various categories, including best dancer, best female dancer, best dance group, best singing group, best costume, and more.
The Heiva is a moment of sharing and conviviality, showcasing our pride in presenting and sharing our traditional culture. It provides an opportunity for participants and spectators alike to come together around our common roots, celebrate our heritage, and pass on our skills to future generations.
